Positions:

Code Consultant / Project Consultant (Fire Engineering) / Project Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, conduct, and complete fire engineering studies on a variety of potential buildings, structures and equipment to address project requirements
• Interpret and apply building codes and standards to new and existing buildings
• Develop and maintain proficiency in fire engineering tools and regulatory requirements for building construction and fire safety
• Review drawings, conduct site inspections, attend project meetings
• Develop cost-effective alternative solution proposals using fire and life safety engineering principles
• Communicate with clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction regarding code compliance strategies
• Compose technical letters, opinions and prepare code reports
• Participate in business development initiatives to identify opportunities to expand client base and services
• Prepare proposals and fee estimates
• Manage projects, maintain schedules, and review project invoices
• Perform related project administration and other engineering technical services

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in engineering and minimum 5 years of industry experience
• Professional Engineer designation or eligibility to obtain within 1 year
• Knowledge of British Columbia/Ontario and National Building and Fire Codes
• Proficient with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Fire Dynamics Simulator, Pathfinder
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language
• Proficiency in French is an asset
