Peter Senez, PhD, P.Eng.
Principal & President
As an active participant in the fire industry since 1988, Peter has positioned himself as a leader in fire protection engineering and performance-based design in Canada, the US, and abroad. Throughout his career, he has worked to develop the profession by creatively adapting industry tools to solve complex fire problems, stimulating a collaborative work environment with his colleagues and peers, and sharing insight into the industry.
As a fire and forensic engineer, fire scientist, and active participant in the fire and code industry, he readily engages and provides leadership in the development of the profession, mentoring of young engineers, and support of, and participation in, fire engineering research. He has extensively studied material fire properties relative to use in buildings and in transportation systems, particularly as it relates to ignition and fire spread.
Peter is a Governor and Chair of the Board for the SFPE Educational & Scientific Foundation, a member of the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes, and is an active participant on task groups supporting the development of the NFPA 130 standard. He is a sessional lecturer at the University of Waterloo and is currently undertaking research on fuel volatility and ventilation-limited fires.
