Positions:
Code Consultant / Project Consultant (Fire Engineering) / Project Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, conduct, and complete fire engineering studies on a variety of potential buildings, structures and equipment to address project requirements
- Interpret and apply building codes and standards to new and existing buildings
- Develop and maintain proficiency in fire engineering tools and regulatory requirements for building construction and fire safety
- Review drawings, conduct site inspections, attend project meetings
- Develop cost-effective alternative solution proposals using fire and life safety engineering principles
- Communicate with clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction regarding code compliance strategies
- Compose technical letters, opinions and prepare code reports
- Participate in business development initiatives to identify opportunities to expand client base and services
- Prepare proposals and fee estimates
- Manage projects, maintain schedules, and review project invoices
- Perform related project administration and other engineering technical services
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in engineering and minimum 5 years of industry experience
- Professional Engineer designation or eligibility to obtain within 1 year
- Knowledge of British Columbia/Ontario and National Building and Fire Codes
- Proficient with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Fire Dynamics Simulator, Pathfinder
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language
- Proficiency in French is an asset
