Industrial

Our team have experience in design, installation, inspection and contract administration of fire suppression and fire detection systems in a wide range of markets from residential to heavy industrial. Our team of experts have backgrounds in chemical, mechanical, civil, electrical, materials, and fire protection engineering. We combine this knowledge with practical field experience and a deep understanding of fire science to bring comprehensive fire and life safety solutions to our industrial clients. Our thorough understanding of the codes and standards allows us to develop practical fire and life safety design concepts and assist in ratifying those concepts with local authorities.

SenezCo provides a range of services that add value to the holistic life safety strategy. Our scope of services encompasses conceptual design through to post-incident investigations and include:

  • Performance based alternative solutions, variances and engineering judgements
  • Building and fire code compliance
  • Fire protection and code compliance for lithium-ion batteries for auto manufacturers and charging stations
  • Emergency response and fire safety plans
  • Risk assessments
  • Fire suppression and fire alarm designs
  • Fire and life safety reviews
  • Warehousing and Hazardous Area Classifications

In conventional buildings, fire protection is achieved by installation of sprinkler and fire alarm systems under building codes and standards in a straightforward process. In industrial facilities such as mines, hydrocarbon facilities, and ports, codes and standards provide less guidance, and fire protection depends more on manual firefighting approaches.

Every heavy industrial facility is different and needs a different fire protection approach. We can support facility design by providing:

  • Fire hazard and risk analysis to define the basic risks, fire scenarios, and fire protection requirements
  • Fire protection philosophy to define how the risks and scenarios will be mitigated using fixed systems, mobile equipment, and manual firefighting capability, either on site, from public forces, or from firefighting services
  • Design criteria specification to define the design of fixed fire protection systems and equipment
  • Review of design documents for conformance with the fire protection philosophy and the design criteria
  • Fire emergency response plan connecting the fire protection philosophy and systems designs with the capabilities of the available firefighting forces to enable maximum effectiveness
  • Pre-fire plan to assist firefighters in understanding the systems and equipment provided, and their effective use in different fire scenarios

This end-to-end approach maximizes fire protection effectiveness while reducing duplicated costs and preventing gaps in protection.
